Okay, so I have to share....

Okay, so I know it's not the greatest. I see many flaws and most of you would probably be too embarrassed to showcase this with family and friends (I should be, especially to share it on my blog), but I am proud (to a point) of my non-artistic ways. Okay, so I shared with you all that Friday was my daughter's birthday, right? Well, she really wanted some kind of princess cake. I try to make my kids' cakes, but had decided (before I became "The Frugal Life of a Mom") that I wasn't going to bake their cakes this year, as it is really really hard to get them baked and decorated, while working full-time and then some at home, with really weird hours. I'm sure alot of you can relate to this. BUT, she wanted a princess cake and I could not see spending $50 or so on a princess cake. I know, I could have probably gotten something cheaper (but I kind of wanted an excuse to try this). Anyway, I baked cakes ALL WEEK LONG and froze them as I baked them. I baked one a day. I baked two regular sized cakes, two round cakes, of course a dozen or so cupcakes. Then, we ended up sending a large majority of the cake home with others as I didn't want it in the house. For some reason, cake is a trigger food for me and with me trying to be a good Weight Watcher, I have to not have it in the house or it makes me want to eat it and other baddies.

Anyway, here is my (Faith's) cake and Faith giving it a once over.....

So, I guess the moral of the story is that ....SHE LOVED IT!!! So, all of my hard work paid off! There was soooo much cake leftover! This was a huge cake and was not expensive to make at all, since I already had the ingredients from all of my couponing. I did have to buy some waffle cones and the wafer cookies, but that really was about it. I SAVED soooo much money doing this, even if it doesn't look that great.

Well, thanks for looking. I just really wanted to share

Thanks!

Spokane's Groupon Deal of The Day

Today's Groupon deal of the day for Spokane is....$5 for $10 Worth of Coffee and Eats at Revive Coffee

It looks like the deal is on. Here is what it says on the website about it....

Until public-transit officials make our dream of commuting to work by rollycoaster a reality, we'll have to settle for the adrenaline rush of traditional pick-me-ups. Percolate perkiness with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of coffee and café fare at Revive Coffee, located in north Spokane. This Groupon is not valid toward the store's retail items, such as mugs or T-shirts.

Revive Coffee brings an artisan's touch to caffeine, serving coffee wood-roasted by Caffé D'arte in Seattle. Caffé D'arte roasts each type of bean separately over an open fire, blending the varieties to forge soothing and smoky sippery. Tipple the tree-tempered tastes with a 12 oz. house coffee ($1.50), or up the alertness-bringing ante with a 12 oz. Revive coffee ($2.50), a house coffee containing a double shot of espresso. The shop's cafe lattes ($2.75, 12 oz.) are canvases for steamed milk hearts and crema designs, etched in by the baristas, while the signature Cold Brew Marbled Ice ($2.75, 12 oz.) adds dark chocolate, white chocolate, and cream to coffee that's been brewed for 12 hours for a higher caffeine concentration. Revive Coffee also slings sandwiches toward open mouths, with items including an egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwich ($2.65), and hot flat-grilled lunch sandwiches (half $3.95, whole $5.95) in variations of turkey, ham, roast beef, roasted veggie, or ultimate cheese.

Painted by a local artist, the café's wall mural depicts the tragic journey of beans from farm to roaster to coffee-mug coffin. Other artwork celebrates the family pets of Revive Coffee's owners. Collapse in the café's cushy chairs and make up for the fruit you wasted during unicycle fruit-juggling training with an all-fruit smoothie ($3.25, 12 oz.), or use the cafe's WiFi, free with a purchase, to send the details of your three cups of French press ($3.50) to the German you lived with on the space station last semester.

Thanks!
