Garden Update

I shared with you that I wanted to show a picture to you of what we picked out of our garden the other day. Look at this.....

We picked a ton of stuff that day and then I went ahead and froze most of it. Wow! I remember in the spring when I was so worried that my garden didn't look as good as my neighbor's, but look at me now! This has been so fun and we are loving all the veggies from our garden this year. We EVEN have watermelon growing! Our tomatoes are FINALLY turning red! Wahoo!!!

Just thought I would share.

Thanks!

My Recent Shopping Trip

I know I am a little late in sharing this picture and deals, but I wanted to share with you (for those that are new, experienced, and everyone in between you CAN score some pretty good deals on fresh produce too. I am going from memory, so I will not be able to lay out the deals, but I CAN tell you that I went to three stores, Safeway, Albertsons, and Rosauers. I would have spent $177 and some change, but with coupons and savings I only spent $33 and some change. Here is a picture of what I got.....

I went to Rosauers "Thursday" sale and picked up all my fruits and bags of potato for $15. I saved $24. I thought I would try something different as we usually get our fruit at Costco. So, this REALLY shaved my Costco bill.

Safeway-Again, look here, I picked up TWO gallons of milk on markdown for ONLY $0.99 per gallon. We usually get our milk at Costco and freeze it. (Freezing it works really well for us, as we just use nonfat milk anyway. So, I does not taste watery, as it is already pretty watered down). Oh, I picked up two of those Welch's juice too for only like $0.40 cents with printable coupon from coupons.com and the in-ad coupon too. You need to make a $10 purchase (before coupons) in order to use this coupon.

Oh, I also picked up some free toothpaste. Not-so-free anymore (at least at my Safeway). Apparently, there was an error and the price is supposed to be $1.49 AFTER you buy three (the ad is somewhat confusing), so they recanted that offer, as I found out the hard way the next day. Anyway, this toothpaste, in this picture was free.

Albertsons was AWESOME! I didn't want to wait until the weekend for doublers as this was one of those "they might be out by Sunday," as this was such a good deal EVEN without doublers. Upon thinking about it, I'm not sure the Buddig meat is such a great deal, as, again, I get my lunch meat at Costco and can get more for the price of $5. I STILL DID REALLY GOOD!

Thank you!

Monday, Weigh-In Report

I know I said that I was going to start reporting my Weight Watcher weigh-ins on Monday and I missed last Monday. Well, let me tell you......it really wasn't an accident. I was a bit ashamed of myself, because I "fell off the wagon," AGAIN!! So, was not in a real hurry to weigh-in last Sunday and I didn't. I was REALLY out of town and was going to come back early, but figured I didn't want to face reality. (Well, it was my birthday weekend and that didn't help me to stay on plan at all, as we celebrated THREE TIMES!!!).

Okay, so enough with that. I went in yesterday and paid the piper. Guess what?! I WAS DOWN 1.2 or 1.6, I can't remember, BUT I WAS DOWN!!! I stayed on plan from Monday on and I WORKED OUT TOO!!!

So, I am hoping that I have a good week this week and will be able to report negative numbers next week too.

To those of you that are on a weight loss journey yourself......KEEP IT UP!!

If you have any tidbits, stumbles, successes, questions, answers, stories, please share! I would love to hear what you have!

Thanks!

Cheryl

I'm Baack!

Boy, I have missed you all so very much! I thought about you all, all week. I really wished I did have time to post last week. I felt really guilty for leaving you high and dry. Sorry about that, but boy when it comes to our families we sure do need to pick and choose our priorities when in need. Let me tell you, last week was a time of need. It was only a few days they were in school, but I think I have our schedules figured out. I think. :) We'll see, since this is their first full week of school. We did have a good week though. Blakey has adjusted to his "bestest" friend/sister/Faith being gone most of the day and his "idol" friend/big brother/TJ being gone too. Faith really really likes her teacher and Trent likes his as well. So, things are VERY good on that end. Then, there is mom.....WAHOOO, LET'S PARTAY!!! :) I'm JUST kiddin'. I am just very very happy my kiddos are happy, but I am having a hard time adjusting to our new scheduled. Hopefully, I will have it down pretty soon. I just feel like I DON'T manage my time very well. I get up at 3 o'clock in the morning and go to bed between 9 and 10 and I SOMEHOW don't have time! Anyway, I am SOOOOO glad to be back and posting some deals.

Oh, I have an exciting giveaway that I am going to start this week. So, be on the lookout for that. How does some FREE money sound?!

Okay, I just wanted to say a quick "hi" before I started postin' away!

Happy shopping!

Today,

has been a crazy day so far. I have a TON of work sitting here on my desk that it is conflicting with my ability to blog. Plus, we are getting ready for the first day of school tomorrow. I have one going into the first grade and another going into the dreaded (for me) junior high. It is going to be a week or so of adjustments here in our daily lives. I will try to get on here and look for some GREAT deals, but I have to ask for your patience as I am going to be getting my kiddos and myself adjusted to a new schedule. I'm not sure how much, if any deal postings I am going to get to today as, like I said, I am swamped with work. I have some AWESOME pictures to show you of some of the stuff we picked from our garden yesterday. I can't wait to share them. If you have come across any deals, please share them here in the comment section. I sure would appreciate any help I could get and would love to hear of your deals too.

Thank you. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend, although it was too cold here.

No coupons in the paper this weekend?

At least that is what I am hearing, but the last time I jumped on that bandwagon I was wrong. So, just a heads up that there will probably not be any inserts this weekend as it is a holiday weekend. Usually, on holiday weekends there are no inserts.

So, take time and enjoy your families on this nice, longer holiday weekend. I know I will.

Can you believe summer is over? Wow, that went by real fast......

Thanks!

My Shopping Trip Yesterday (Wednesday, September 1)

Okay, so I REALLY wanted to get out and get some Cool-Whip. I NEVER have Cool-Whip on hand and I love the stuff. So, I was trying to figure out a way that I could get LOTS of the stuff without having to spend very much out of pocket, as I did not have any Catalina's from the week before. Oh, and here, in our house, we really like the Sensodyne toothpaste, so I was trying to workup a deal to get some REALLY cheap Sensodyne toothpaste at Riteaid. So, here is what I got. Without coupons and savings, this would have cost me $98.29. With all of my coupons and the GREAT savings, this only cost me....$5.75! I SAVED $92.54!!!

Here is what I got. Now, keep in mind these are five different transactions and four different stores.....
Transaction #1-
Oscar Mayer Dogs $1.50X5 ($7.50)
-$1/1 X5 (Thanks Coupon Posse) (Also, in order to get five coupons, you will need multiple computers)
=$2.50
Got back $5 Catalina for my next order.

Now, I don't need the hot dogs, but this was the only way that I could figure out getting some FREE Cool-Whip without having to spend very much out-of-pocket.

Transaction #2, Transaction #3, and Transaction #4
Cool-Whip $1X5 ($5)
-$5 Catalina
=FREE!!!
Got back $5 Catalina for my next order (Now, I still have a $5 Catalina leftover for some cheap cheese)

Riteaid
Sobe Life Water $0.99X1 (Used this as a filler to help get to $25)
-Free Sobe Coupon from playing the game at (http://www.sobe.com/)
= FREE!!

Herbashine hair color $5.99
-$3/1 X1
-2/1 Video Values coupon
=$0.99

Gain Dishsoap $0.89X3 ($2.67)
-$1/1 from last weekends P&G insert
=$0.33 overage

Boudreauxs Butt Paste $3.99 X1
-$2/1 from insert a couple of months ago (I can't remember which one)
-$3/1 from VV
=$1.01 overage

Sensodyne $5.99 X3 ($11.98, the sale was buy 2 get 1 free)
-$1.50 from sending them a compliment e-mail
-$0.75/1
-1.50/1 from VV X2
-$1 when you buy $10 in oral care products UP reward
=$5.73, making them $1.91 each (that's pretty good for Sensodyne)

-$5/25
Now, looking at my receipt I should have paid $1 less, because they were having a hard time getting the $1 when you buy $10 in oral care to come off. Now, that I'm looking SHE ADDED $1. So, my total before tax should have been $0.87! But, instead it was $1.87. Oh well.

So, at Riteaid I only spent $3.25 including tax. Not too shabby.

Thanks!

Cheryl

Today is

my birthday. So, I will not be able to get in and post. I did take the day off of work and my husband arranged for my kiddos to spend the night at grandma and grandpa's last night. So, I am here all alone. I figured I'd go play around at the store to see what I can come up with, maybe just sit and do nothing (don't know if I CAN do that), or even get stuff done around the house. All I know is that right now I sure do miss my kiddos.

I will be back at it again tomorrow. I hope you all have a great day and get some GREAT shopping in.

Thanks!

Recipe=Turkey Chili Soup

Beware, this recipe makes a lot. It is very verry good and very filling. I had to use my big, huge pot. I think it is one of those older canning pots, you know, those black and white speckled pots. Anyway, just so you know it makes alot, but great for freezing too. I was also able to get most of the stuff from MY GARDEN!!! Yay!

Okay, now for the recipe.....

Turkey Chili Soup

Ingredients:
16 ounces of 99% FF ground turkey
2 mediium diced onion
2 (28 oz) cans of diced tomatoes
2 medium diced zucchini
2 medium diced yellow squash
2 (15 oz) cans black beans
2 (15 oz) cans FF beef broth
2 diced celery stalks
4 diced carrots
2 diced green bell peppers
1 (14 oz) package dry chili seasoning
1/4 cup instant brown rice
garlic to taste

Instructions:
Saute turkey until brown. All all other ingredients. Simmer for about 30 minutes or until the veggies are soft and tender.

That's it!

This recipe is 22 servings and 1 point a serving. I believe the servings are of 1-1/2 cups.

I have made this recipe just like it says, but last night I made it a little different. I didn't add the turkey (I didn't have any and didn't feel like making "meat" or I would have added lean ground beef). I used chicken broth instead of the beef broth. Then, the other thing I changed was I used taco seasoning instead of the chili seasoning. The soup last night was REAL good! I figured it as FREE as there is nothing, but veggies in it.

I suppose you could even add a little cheese, maybe some tortilla chips, and some sour cream to make it a taco soup. You could really play around with this recipe. We ate it for dinner and I froze three bags for use at a later time.

I AGAIN did not make this recipe up and got iti years ago from the Weight Watcher chat board. So, A BIG THANK YOU to whoever made this up. It is an AWESOME recipe.

Oh, here some more pictures I took while prepping it. I am still new and trying to take pictures and cook, so please bear with me. ;)

I had to share this above picture. THESE ARE FROM MY GARDEN!!

This above picture is of all of the ingredients in the pot and ready to cook. See the big, black pot I'm talking about.

Okay, good luck. Let me know if you make and like it.

Thanks!

Cheryl

Recipe=Peanut Butter Spread

Okay, so this is REALLY good and VERY easy.

Peanut Butter Spread is 24 servings and FREE in points for 2 tablespoons

8 ounces of FF cream cheese
2 Tbls reduced fat peanut butter
1/4 cup of Splenda

and this is what it will look like.......

Okay, this is super easy....All you have to do is mix it up with a fork so it gets a thick, creamy consistency and it will look like this......

That's it! I have had this recipe for a few years and got it from the WW chat boards. So, I did not make this recipe up. I did check it in the WW Recipe Builder and at 24 servings this is FREE. Well, I also checked to see how much you could have for 1 point and you can have 3 SERVINGS for 1 point. One serving size is 2 Tablespoons, if I remember correctly.

I made this up last night and had it with an apple. It was sooooo good.

Thanks!

My Weight Loss Goal

has went DOWWWWNNNNN the tubes. :( I have shared with you over and over and over that I am a Weight Watcher. I never did say I was a GOOD Weight Watcher. Actually, you know, I was a good Weight Watcher for 4 years (I mean I was GOOD). Well, I have been struggling for the past year. Yep, you heard me right A YEAR. It (not Weight Watchers, but the fact that I am struggling) really SUCKS!!! Yeah, it does. I ONLY have a little under 50 pounds to lose to hit my goal. Now, many of you may say 50 pounds is a lot, but really for me 50 pounds is not that much to go compared to the 135 pounds I have lost so far. Right? I have NO idea what is wrong with me, but anyway......I HAVE committed myself to the plan once again and I have been doing real good this week. I dug out some of my old recipes and I am having fun. I found a couple of recipes that I would like to share with you. I also hope that you don't mind, but I need all the help I can get and more accountability is great for me. So, I weigh-in on Sunday mornings and I am telling you now, so that I have to do it, I am going to report Monday morning to you all with my gain and/or my loss. Now, one of my new tricks is not to look at the number I am at, as I thought I was focusing on the number too much, but found out that not looking at the number is quite easy. So, I have made a new goal and once I hit 5 pounds GONE I will start taking charge of that number again and get these POUNDS OFF!!! So, when I hit my 5 pounds GONE I am going to share that with you too. We are actually coming into one of the hard parts of year, for me, but I have GOT to do good. I AM GOING TO DO GOOD. Anyway, I got my recipes ready to share.

So, what are you doing to take charge of your weight loss goal?

Thanks!
