**Update (4/5/11)....Ohhhhh Rite Aid, Rite Aid, Rite Aid.....what to do with you....Okay, so this morning I was working away and I had a light bulb moment and realized that Rite Aid offers "coupons.com" coupons on THEIR Website. So, I went and double checked and sure 'nuff, they are right HERE. So, I get myself on the phone, because now I am a bit frustrated as TWO people told me the other day that they DO NOT accept coupons from "coupons.com." I get through to someone and she has, once again, NO CLUE what I am talking about. Yah, you can use coupons from "coupons.com." Okay, so now I am confused.....DO WE OR DON'T WE? Just thought I would share.....
Well, I went into Rite Aid the other day to get some FREE gum and I had five coupons. So, the cashier proceeded to inform me that the coupon policy was changing. WHAT?! :) She had informed me that Rite Aid will now only accept FOUR coupons, PER customer, PER day! Okay, that sounds a little crazy to me! She said that it wasn't Rite Aid, but the manufacturer putting this in order. I replied back that I thought that was a little extreme and it really didn't make sense to me. Really? FOUR PER CUSTOMER, PER DAY?! So, I came home and thought about a little while and decided to give them a ring today and see what the "real" story was.
This is what I was told from customer service.
Rite Aid now will ONLY accept four "like" coupons in the same transaction. So, as she put it.....if you have four tissue and four air freshener that you would be okay using a coupon for every item, but if you have 5 tissue and want to use the same "like" coupons on all five tissue, that would not be okay. They said that the manufacturer was not paying for all of the coupons when they submitted such a high amount of coupons.
Also, I had some printables that I wanted to use the other day, but she refused as they said "redeem at Walmart," but it was a manufacturer coupon, so she wouldn't take it. So, I was going to ask her about this specific coupon until she told me that they DO NOT accept printable coupons now from coupons.com, but they will accept them if we print it from a manufacturer site.???? I said, "well...how would you know the difference between printing from coupons.com and the manufacturer site"? She said that they are coded differently and their computer system will not accept them. ???? So, I guess my advice would be to use them at your own risk, with the possibility of them not being accepted. I don't quite get this rule.
Something that I think is kinda funny is that I am on the phone right now with Rite Aid. Yes, I called back because I forgot to ask for an updated coupon policy and want/need one, so I was going to have them mail me or e-mail the "new" policy and the dude that I am speaking with has no clue. I had to just inform him of the "new" policy, so he is now checking with his supervisor. ;) Poor guy, I stumped him. lol......So, we'll see..........
Update: I just got off of the phone with my man friend at Rite Aid customer service and yes the policy has been changed, but not really been changed as far as the four coupons goes. I told him I wanted a new policy, but he came back with "well......it really hasn't been changed." This policy change is really up to the store manager, depending on the kind of stock that they have in the store. So, check with your manager.
I also asked him about the Internet printables and he DID come back with the same answer. They will not/cannot accept coupons from places like redplum, coupons.com, coupon network, you name it and they cannot accept these coupons, but they CAN, however, accept a printable directly from the manufacturer's site. So, just keep that in mind when you are doing some of your shopping. :)
Good luck!
