Safeway Just for U

This is a repost.... I have taught a couple of coupon classes recently and just wanted to post this again, just in case anyone needed some help in getting signed up for the Just for U program through Safeway.

I wanted to talk to you about something. You know, since Safeway eliminated taking digital coupons from Cellfire and Shortcuts I have just been going in there sparingly, as they are just WAYYYYY TOO EXPENSIVE for the most part, unless there is a GREAT deal with coupons and whatnot. I have heard people mention the "Just for U" program, which is not available in the Spokane area yet. :( Then, I have also heard people mention the digital coupons that they offer on their site (Safeway's site). I have not really paid too much attention to it, because, quite honestly using digital coupons was sooooooo stressful for me. Wasn't it to you too? You just never knew if they were going to come off at all, or maybe one or two, or even if the cashier was going to give you grief about using them. So, needless to say a part of me was not too disappointed when they decided not to take them anymore.

Okay, so I had heard, again, the mention of the digital coupons again. So, I decided to go on over and take a look and see what was available. Well, yesterday they were having the daily sale of the oranges and "those" oranges had a "digital" coupon on the Safeway site. So, I thought to myself that I would "try" to load it to my card, and then go make my purchase of oranges and see what comes of it. Keeping in mind that "it is okay if the coupon doesn't come off." Yes, I have to talk to myself ahead of time so I don't get frustrated with myself.

They had a $1/1 coupon available. So, I loaded to my card. Then, my husband went to Safeway, after work, yesterday, picked up two bags of oranges, and low and behold.........THE COUPON CAME OFF!!! Yay!!! So, we got two (8-lb) bags of oranges for JUST $3.98!

Our total savings was $10 for a savings of 72%! Wow!

Anyway, I wanted to walk you through the steps of setting up your card, if you wanted to.

1)  First go on over here.
2)  Then, go to the top where it says, Sign-in, Register Now, My Account. It looks like this....

3)  Now, you will be directed to the "Registration" page.

4) Fill your info in.
5)  After all your info is in, it will direct you to the main page. So, now you have this in front of you....

You see where I have circled "Coupon Center"? Well, click on that.
6)  Now you are in the "Coupon Center."..
Here's the orange coupon that I added to my card...(Just so you can see what the coupons look like)

Now, you can start adding coupons to your card. Hopefully, they will come off at your next visit, like mine did.

**Of note if you try to register for the "Just for U" program and you are in our area, it will not let you as it will give you the message that it is not available your area. :( You can still, however, load your card with coupons! ☺

Go on over when you have time and play around with it and see if you like this or not.

Good luck!

Cheryl

Safeway Shop Today

Well, after I left Zumba this afternoon I thought I would pop in at Safeway and "try" to use my digital coupons that I had loaded for the kiddos. Here's my score.....

As you can see the Popsicle box is already open by ummmm....me. Whoever knew that they would make Jolly Rancher flavored Popsicles? Oh my goodness, they are sooooo yummy and only 1 WW Points Plus! Anyway, here's what I did....

Magnum Almond $3
-$2/1 Just for U (NLA)
=$1

Popsicles Jolly Rancher $1.99
-$2/1 Just for U (NLA)
=FREE with a $0.01 overage

TOOP was $0.99!! I saved $8.09 and now my kiddos think I'm the bomb and are very happy....

Happy kiddos=Happy momma!

Thanks!

Cheryl

PS-I highly suggest that you go onto the Safeway site every once-in-a-while and load your card with coupons as you never know when something may come up for sale that you may like. If I wouldn't have loaded my card with these two coupons, I wouldn't have gotten such a great deal on them. Just a suggestion. ☺

Rite Aid Deal on Sunglasses

I "tried" my hand at the Rite Aid deal I just posted this morning. Here's what I discovered at "my" store....

I did two transactions as I had to get glasses enough for three kiddos...

Transactions #1 and #2 (I did exactly the same thing on both transactions.

1 StyleScience child-sized sunglasses at $9.99 (they didn't have any at my store for $7.99)
1 Foster Grant child-sized sunglasses at $3.49 (after buy one get one half off sale)
-$5/1 StyleScience Sunglasses Rite Aid Video Values coupon X1
-$5/1 Foster Grant Sunglasses Rite Aid Video Values coupon X1
=$3.49

I also used a $2.99 +Up reward that I got back from a previous purchase.

TOOP (total out of pocket) was $0.49 plus $1.17 in tax (stinkin' tax ☺). Plus, I got back a $5 +UP for each transaction. I still make a few bucks. ☺

The kids glasses were pretty picked through already, so you'd better hurry in if you want to try to pick some of these up for the kiddos. Also, these glasses were on a display in the "summer" isle. They were not with the regular sunglasses. Oh, and, the "bigger" glasses in the photo fit my 12-year-old, just in case you have an "older" child that needs some of these too. They are actually a tad big on my 5-year-old.

Just to show you what made me realize that Blakey's eyes are a little sensitive....(This is the look that he has whenever he is outside)....☺

Good luck, I hope you are able to score some for your kiddos too!

Cheryl

Walmart Gas Deal

Wow.....(lucky people....) ☺(We could go to Nampa, Idaho) ☺

BENTONVILLE, Ark., June 29, 2011 – Today, Walmart announces a 90-day Rollback at the pump to give customers a savings of 10 cents a gallon on all fuel, gas and diesel, at participating Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations. The discount applies to gas purchases made when using a reloadable Walmart gift card, reloadable Walmart MoneyCard® or Walmart credit card from June 29 through September 30, 2011.

“Our customers have told us that high gas prices are a top budget concern, nearly as large an expense to their households as food and groceries,” said Stephen Quinn, chief marketing officer. “We listen to our customers and because we know they are feeling squeezed by gas prices, we’re implementing this gas Rollback to help them save, especially during high travel summer months.”

Customers who use the Walmart family of cards to buy gas at participating gas stations will immediately save 10 cents a gallon on purchases right at the pump, with no other restrictions or requirements.

“It’s important to us that we extend this offer to everyone, not just Walmart customers shopping in our stores, without requiring any other type of purchase,” said Quinn. “Our goal is to make it easy for everyone to save and live better, and we think this gas program is leading in the market because it doesn’t require any additional purchase, loyalty card or other restrictions.”

States with participating gas stations are:

•Arkansas
•Georgia
•Idaho
•Illinois
•Indiana
•Iowa
•Kentucky
•Louisiana
•Michigan • Mississippi
•Missouri
•New Mexico
•North Carolina
•Ohio
•South Carolina
•Tennessee
•Texas
•Virginia

A complete list of participating Walmart and Murphy USA locations and more information is available at http://walmartstores.com/AboutUs/10629.aspx.

(Local) FREE Nutrition Program

Have you done this before? Many of the local school disctricts have the FREE summer nutrition program going on right now. I have pulled up a few links to some schools in Spokane. So, what this is is a "no cost federeally reimbursed summer program." I can't remember all the details of it, but they really encourage you to bring your children in and have some lunch or breakfast. NO, you do not have to qualify. It's for ALL children ages 1 to 18! You don't have to be low-income. You could be a millionaire and still take your kiddos in to have a FREE meal. I haven't taken my kids yet this year, we have been sooooooo busy and most schools just started last week. The kids really like it though, and to tell you the truth, as a mommy I REALLY like it too; 'cause you know what that means?.....Well, it means I don't have to make lunch!!!☺ My kids really like it because they get to eat lunch at school. What I have done in the past is take them to the free movies (now $1 movies) at the Valley Mall and then I would take them over to get lunch and that was sooooo much fun for them at no cost to me except gas and now maybe a $1 each for the movie. Oh, by the way, you can go to ANY of the schools that offer this program. You don't have to belong to their school district. There are only a couple of rules....

1)     You MUST be a child, age 1 to 18, to be able to get a FREE meal.
2)     The kids need to eat the meal there.

They serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday and there is a schedule. So, you might want to check out the different schedules and see which one maybe fits in your schedule. There is also a menu.....

Here is the schedule and menu for both East Valley and West Valley....

Here are a couple of other links to a couple of other school schedules....

Spokane Public Schools (There is no information yet on this site)

Please share this information, especially if you know of anybody that could use a little extra help with meals and such. This is completely FREE and gets the kiddos a meal in their tummies.

Thanks!
