La Vida Cheapo: Yoke's 3/17 - 3/23 and Fresh Friday this week!

Go on over here to take a look at La Vida Cheapo's blog. She has some really good Yoke's matchups and also has some information on their "coupon policy." They take competitor coupons at Yokes and she has a posting as to some guidelines to try to follow when using your competitor coupons there.

Community Fun Run

I know I am posting this a bit late, but wanted those of you, here in Spokane, to know that there is a Community Fun Run put on by The Arc of Spokane...

When:  Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 9:00 am
Check-in begins at 8:15 am
Where: Center Place, 2426 North Discovery Place, Spokane Valley
For more information you can call Darci at 279-9242

The fee is $14 with a T-shirt per individual. Children under 5 are free. There is also an option to register a team for even more money.

The problem is that you have ot register by March 19th (that is two days from now). Go on over here to their website and you can pay online, but send your registration form snail mail.

I did this last year as my very first 5k and it got me hooked. I am going to do it again this year and this time I am taking my kiddos and husband with me. I don't think that I will be my time last year (as I will have a few anchors), but this time it will be a family event. I am soooooo excited. I can't wait!

New Recipe=Undone Stuffed Pepper Casserole

Here is a picture of what I made last night. I always think about taking a picture when it is too late. This time I remembered. I did add sour cream to my casserole.  Look at what I ate for 7 points=3 points for the Ranch on my salad and 4 points for the casserole....

I got this from the new Krafts Foods Friends&Family Magazine that I just got in the mail yesterday. I made a few changes to work with my Weight Watcher lifestyle. If you would like the original, please e-mail and I will get it to you.

Anyway.....

1 lb ground beef
2 green peppers chopped up
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups of cooked bulgur
1 jar of spaghetti sauce (I used Hunt's as it is free in points per serving)
1/2 cup of shredded FF cheddar cheese

Heat oven to 350º. Brown meat with peppers and garlic in large skillet, drain. Stir in bulgar, spaghetti sauce, and 1/4 cup of cheese. Spoon into 2-qt casserole; top with remaining cheese. Bake 25 minutes.

Then, it is done! I calculated this in the WW Recipe Builder and it came back at 4 points. It makes 7 servings!

Thanks!

House Party-DiGiorno Pizza Party

Anybody hear about the House Party Program, the one for DiGiorno? Well, they have "parties" every so often with showcasing certain products. The one that I happened to sign up for was the DiGiorno. Well, guess what? I was approved to host a party. There is no catch, except for I believe I have to do a survey or something after I host my party. I can do that, especially for free pizza and breadsticks! Here is a little info, plus you can go here to get questions to your answers. I don't know all too much about it as this is my first party, but I am sooo excited. Look at the cute littel pizza box that was delivered to my house yesterday....

What is a House Party™?
House Party™ lets people who really love something host a special event featuring a fun, free, exclusive experience sponsored by the world's leading brands.

Cool people sharing cool stuff. A House Party™ is thousands of parties happening across the country on a single day, hosted by people just like you. Each event is sponsored by a leading brand and focuses on something cool–like a new product, hit TV show, or great cause–that the sponsor wants its best fans to experience firsthand and share with their friends. (Check out some of our recent events.)

You host. Everyone wins. House Party lets you share the stuff you like with the people you like, through a fantastic, free party experience. What's the catch? There is none: Our partners understand that if they share something good with the right people in a fun way, we'll all help spread the word.

What's inside the party packs?

Each event has a unique Party Pack filled with all kinds of free stuff to make your party a success. We've thrown all kinds of events: TV Viewing, Wine & Chocolate Pairing, Kid-centric, you name it.

Hosts of some of our recent events have received:*
Advanced copies of TV Shows
Sneak Previews of Movies
Board Games
Action-figures
Gourmet Chocolate
Gourmet Coffee Samples
Coffee Maker
Coupons
Special Offers
Party Favors
Party Decorations
Stickers
T-Shirt Transfers
Window Clings
Health & Beauty Products
Baby Products
and much more...
* not all in the same pack

Go over here to sign up, if you are interested.

Here is another picture of the goods that I got yesterday.

It came with 15 $4/1 coupons to share with my friends and family too. Oh, but that is not it, look at what my model is wearing.........

Yes, I even got a really cool DiGiorno apron that my older son (not the one pictured here) is in love with, not this little guy. This one here is my assistant shopper/model (Blakey). Doesn't he look soooo cute?

So, anyway, I know some of you are probably wondering why I would be hosting a DiGiorno Party if I am a WW. Well, let me explain....We are actually going to use this party to celebrate my older son's 11th birthday. Talk about feeding guests the "frugal" way. I will not have to pay for food. Plus, I will be able to make these pizzas and serve these pizzas without even taking a bite. I promise!

Okay, go sign up if you are interested. It seems like a really cool program to take part in.

Thanks House Party!

Target Deal I posted Earlier

You remember? The one about really cheap shampoo? Well.................it is a no go at "my" Target. I was sooooo excited to go and get some CHEAP shampoo, but the only kind they had was the really big bottles for $4.99. That, to me, was not a bargain. That is too much for me. That would still be $1.99, which I guess is a good buy for a big bottle, but more than I wanted to put out of my pocket. They did, however, have the Rimmel Mascara that I have the $3 coupon for. It is priced at $2.24. So, I grabbed a filler and paid $0.52 OOP. The only problem with that is that I grabbed the last one. The reason why I'm sharing this with you is that I was just in there the other day and everytime I am in there they are out of the mascara. So, my point here is just to check back often, if you can. Or, take your coupon and go to Walgreen's this week and pay $0.50 for your mascara. If you have the coupon out of the All You Magazine, it expires on the 31st.

Okay, good luck and happy shopping.

Thanks!

Another recipe=Santa Fe Rice and Beans

Here is our version of Santa Fe Rice and Beans. This is very very simple and really really good.

1 lb of ground beef/ground chicken breast
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can of mexi-corn, drained
2 cans of Rotel tomatoes
1/2 cup water
2-1/4 cups of instant rice (yes two and a quarter cups)
Cumin, salt pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder (to taste)

Here are the instructions now....
Season and brown the beef in a skillet. Season to taste. Make sure you are generous with your seasoning. Blend Rotel and water together. Add the Rotel mix, beans, and corn to the skillet with chicken (I use a big pot). Then, season again. Bring to a boil in the skillet, add the instant rice, stir, cover, and remove from heat. Keep covered about 8 to 10 minutes. Then, your dinner is ready.

This makes 7 servings, I believe about 1-1/2 (one-and-half) cups. Yes, this is a Weight Watcher friendly recipe too. It is only 5 points. I have also substituted plain, canned diced tomatoes, plain canned corn, and even bulgar instead of rice.

You can serve this with a little bit of cheese on top (I use FF cheese) and some sour cream (again I use FF sour cream). We also serve it with tortillas. I use the La Tortilla Factory Tortillas as being a Weight Watcher they are FREE!

Once again, I did not make this recipe up, but got it from one of the community boards from weightwatchers.com a few years ago and it has been a staple in our house. We love it!

** I did double check this in recipe builder to make sure that I wasn't lying to myself again. :) So, the points are accurate this time. :)

Thanks!

Cheryl
