Happy New Year!!

I hope you all have a happy and safe new year. I am going to be snoozing. That is how exciting I am. :) Actually, I will have my night owl, husband wake me up at midnight, enough to watch the ball drop and then head right back to bed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

FYI....

I am REALLY tired today. I have been fighting off "the sickness" and eating very BAD. So, I'm not sure how much I am going to get posted today. It does not seem that there is too much out there this morning, as far as deals go. So, my kiddos and I are all sick.

I didn't share with you earlier in the week that I had to make an unexpected and urgent trip to one of the local urgent care centers with my little Blakey. That poor boy is just not doing too hot this holiday season, with his broken collar bone and now a double ear infection. He got himself two ear infections and was in quite a bit of pain and SUDDENLY. For some reason, I NEVER know when my two little ones have an ear infection as they NEVER complain about pain. We usually find out for some other reason, but of course the only time EVER that I am without a vehicle (we loaned it out for the day) he tells me his ear hurts. Really?! The ONLY day ever we don't have a vehicle?! Well, with nobody home (mom, husband, other family) I called my hubby to see what he thought we should do and he came home early. So, he gets out of the van and we (Blakey and I) get in and head out. We go to the urgent care with over an hour wait to be seen. :(  We must, we must wait our turn. Well, he is crying because he is in soooooo much pain. Well, it's finally our turn and we go back only to discover that he has one "really bad" ear infection and the other one is infected too. Well, with some of my training I know that there is also an ear drop that they can give you to numb the pain in the ear. I'm sure some of you moms know that too. Anyway, if you aren't aware of it, it is called Auralgan.

So, the doc says that he is going to prescribe an antibiotic. Okay, so then I ask for Auralgan too. He says, "sure, I can get you that too." Okay, so now I go drop Blakey off at home because I know I will be a while at the store, since they always tell me that my faxed prescribed JUST got there whenever I go to pick it up, so I have to wait 20 minutes or so. I wanted him to be comfortable, so I took him home.

So, I go and pick up the prescription and the guy says, "okay, thank you. Have a good day." I say, "okay, thanks. Oh, are there TWO prescriptions in there?" He says, "ummmm, no. The only one in there is the antibiotic." What?! Are you (I'm sorry) FREAKIN' kidding me?! NO, I don't say that. This is just what I am thinking. He WASN'T EVEN going to tell me! I say, "well.....I was supposed to get two. I needed the antibiotic AND the Auralgan."  "Oh, the Auralgan has to be special ordered, because we don't carry it in the store. So, it will be in tomorrow." Oh, no no no no! I don't think so!" Okay, this is just me thinking to myself, again. I am not normally a persistent person unless it has to do with my kiddos or coupons. It is my alter ego. ;) Do you have one? Anyway, I say "well, does another one of your stores have it in town? I will drive to get it, if I have to." "Ummm, no, we all get it from the same place, so I'm sure nobody else has it. It will have wait until tomorrow." I say, "is there a substitution or something else I can give him? He is in pain now and needs something NOW. I can give him Tylenol, but that is not going to help now. He is in pain today." So, he tells me to "wait a minute." Okay, sure. He comes back and says "well, we are going to call the doctor and see what he has to say. You know, it might take awhile?" I say, "that's okay I'll wait. If I have to, I'll call the doctor myself, just give me the word." So, I go back and look around for a little while. After a while, I go back and see what they have come up with. Now, I'm dealing with someone else, but low and behold I am getting ear drops! Yes, they are the generic version, but I don't care, they are going to numb his aching little ear. Now, I am very happy we got something for his ear, but I am a bit irritated at the service I got. Really, they had the generic version and were not EVEN going to tell me. I know that there are rules and regulations as far as this goes, but really they were going to send me away without EVEN telling me that everything that I was expecting to get wasn't even in the bag and then just tell me that they will not have the prescription in until the next day.

I have many many issues with this, but unfortunately I seem to experience this awful customer service more and more these days.

I keep thinking to myself, "what if I was just a "normal" person and had NO medical training?" I'm thinking I would have said "oh, okay and just had Blakey be in pain all night." I dunno.

My whole point here is that doctors and pharmacy staff are people just like us. Yes, they have little more (okay, a lot more) training than the rest of us, but they are people too. I know that most of us tend to think that what the doctor/pharmacy people say is golden and MOST of the time it is, but my point here is that YOU are your own advocate. If you don't agree with something, YOU must speak your mind. If you question something, YOU must speak your mind. Are you too shy/embarrassed to ask questions or "question" them? DON'T BE. They deal with soooooo many "odd" questions, behaviors, personalities, etc. I guarantee you that they have dealt with and seen it all. You have no idea. ;)

Anyway, this post wasn't supposed to be a very long post, but apparently I wanted to share my story with you all. I really really really also want to express to you that REALLY you are your own advocate when it comes to you and/or your family's health care.

Just so you know, when I deal with customer service, like I have said before, I try really really hard to kill them with kindness. So, I wasn't rude. Being rude really isn't going to get you anywhere, but I did stick to it.

I hope this helps you in the future.

Have a great day and if you are in the Spokane area please be safe out there. I'm hearing it is pretty crazy driving weather.

GOOD MORNING!!!

Good morning everyone! Wow, I can't believe Christmas has come and gone! It is ALWAYS soooooo nice to be with family, but I can't believe how busy the season can be. Time just flies by when you are having fun. We did have a VERY GOOD Christmas though.

Every Christmas I do get what I call a Christmas hangover. The day after Christmas I just sit and stare. I am soooo tired and exhausted and I cannot move. I thought this year "might" be different. As when I woke-up yesterday morning I felt "okay." I got up and got ready for the day, only just to suffer from "the Christmas hangover." I'm hopin' today will be a bit better since I kinda "have" to step up to the plate as my hubby goes back to work and I'm "supposed" to be workin'. So, we'll see. I do feel this tug towards shopping though......

Anybody eat too much? Well, I sure did! I'm back on plan today though. I kinda got derailed for a couple of days, but I'm back now. I did NOT go to WW yesterday. I was too tired! I wanted to sleep in. When I go to WW, I have to get up at 6 o'clock in the morning. So, I got to sleep until 8 yesterday until one of my mini alarm's (Faithy) came and woke me to ask if she could get up.  Then, she proceeded to argue with me. That's always nice to wake-up to. :)

Anyway, I'm slowly but surely getting back on track of day-to-day life.

I hope you all had a GREAT holiday and got to enjoy your famlies as much as I did. Boy, after doing the "Secret Santa" thing and just really taking in the expeirence it sure was a GREAT reminder of how lucky I am. I AM VERY LUCKY! :)

I hope you all have a great day and a great week!

Update

Things went REALLY good tonight. We REALLY made somebody's Christmas. SANTA'S COMING...... Thanks to all of you and your support, we were able to pull this off. My kids, husband, and I hid around the corner to watch them open the door. I'm thinkin' they were pretty happy, but we had to leave quickly as I think we may have been spotted.....Here is my team in action.....

This is early on and Trent (my son) in the background chillin'

My momma loading stuff up

Donations before unpacking

And more....

And more...............

Organizing donations

Organizing

And more organizing......

Secret Santa Helpers....Mom, Ryan, Faithy, Blakey, Dad, and Trent wayyyyyy in the back.

Last, but not least.......Yes, that is yours truly sending many thanks and hugs to all of you for helping me/us make this happen. THANK YOU!!!!

Sooooo, here are some more details. This is how you guys/gals ROCK!!! We not only made Christmas happen for my original family of the mommy, the daddy, the 2-year-old, and the 9-month-old baby boy. We brought Christmas to TWO other families. I didn't think you all would mind. Yes, the kiddos from our first family got the toys and clothes and other misc gifts, but we had soooooooo much food and toiletries that we shared.

Family #1 the original family....
Here is some more info that I found out. They are 21. He has been laid off from work (not good). She works part-time. They are actually homeless right now. They had a flood in their apartment a little while back and they are having trouble getting it fixed. They actually went back recently to try to live there again, but found out that their apartment is STILL flooded. So, that was a no-go there. So, they are actually living with her mom and 15-year-old son/little brother in an apartment. I can only imagine how cramped they must be.

Family #2
Well, we found out, through the grapevine, that she is not doing too hot financially either. She is actually trying to get on disability as she has some health problems. We found out that Christmas wasn't looking to bright for her or her son either.  Sooooo, we stepped in and took care of that too. Yep, mom and I pooled a couple of things together and got presents for the grandma and son too.

Family #3
While doing our Secret Santa Drive today, we had gotten the word from a fellow couponer (thanks Wendi) that there is a family that she knows of that is in need. This is actually REALLY sad. It is a husband and wife who are from out of town, but are here for a while. They have many children (I'm not sure how many), but they also have an 8-9 month old and are here because they are getting treatment for their baby WHO HAS CANCER!!! WHAT?! I mean I know this stuff happens, but REALLY?! Well, all she asked for was if we were too overwhelmed with "stuff" that maybe we consider giving our leftovers to this family. Well, it actually turns out that I have a family coming to donate MORE stuff tomorrow and we did have a "few" extra food items. We had some pasta, brownies, hot chocolate, and a couple of cereals. Now, from what I am told we have a whole bunch of stuff coming tomorrow! Boy, you guys/gals REALLY helped out.

THANK YOU OVER AND OVER AND OVER FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN, NOT ONLY FOR ONE FAMILY BUT FOR THREE!!!! My family and I THANK YOU!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Cheryl

P.S. It was so nice meeting all of you today and seeing familar faces. Thanks EVERYONE for coming out.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

A MILLION TIMES OVER!!!!!! Wow, you guys really rock!!! My mom and I have been putting stuff together since we left at 2 o'clock! We just finished up and we are going to deliver around 5:30 or so. I have pictures to share with you so I will do that later today. We got soooooo much stuff!

I really couldn't have done this without your help, so thanks. Special thanks to ........

Giving Back For Christmas

Update:  I just wanted to take the time and thank everyone who has contacted me and who is helping to support my decision to do this and helping me to get the word out there! I REALLY appreciate it! I'm sure the family will appreciate it too. I went to Fred Meyer yesterday and picked up FOUR bottles of laundry detergent for JUST $0.50 a bottle. It was that Xtra laundry detergent. There was a Fred Meyer coupon in Wednesday's paper making it 2 for $3 and there is a $1/1 coupon on their (Xtra) website, making them only $0.50! Wow, that will come in real handy for the donation.

I know that it is last minute, but this is something that I have been thinking about for a while and... well...quite frankly, I was a bit scared to do something like this. I mean I don't mind "helping" to put together something like this, but for me to be the one "in charge" is quite scary. Anyway, this has been laying quite heavily on my heart lately, and I know I waited until late, but I'm going to take the plunge and DO IT. And, one of the first people that I am coming to is you. I NEED HELP!! AND, I NEED HELP REAL BAD! Do you think you help me pull this off?

I have found a family (thanks mom) that needs some uplifting this year for Christmas. This family is local. This family consists of a mom, a dad, a little girl (2 years old), and a baby boy (8 months old, although I am told he is a little big for his age, more like 12 months). Well, it looks like Santa may NOT be headed their way this year AND I am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to see that Santa DOES come. This family IS in need and they need our help.

With all of our coupons and "coupon talent" that we have I'm thinking that some of you may have a pretty good stockpile. Do you think that maybe you could share some of that with this family? I HAVE BROWNIES! :)

I'm thinking it would be pretty nice if we could gather up some stuff for Christmas dinner or even just plain food. It sounds like this family is in real need. Maybe some diapers, wipes, just neccesities, or even just stuff that you may have "extra" of and you don't know what to do with. How 'bout some Christmas toys? They don't even have a Christmas tree! I thought I had one, but I don't so if you have maybe an artificial one that you were thinking of getting rid of, we could use that. I have plenty of decorations and lights. Anything, you think you could donate to make their Christmas a little less stressful would be AWESOME.

I just found all of this information out about 45 minutes ago, while I was in the middle of Rite Aid. Needless to say, I left the store and came home to do some inventory of what I have, so I can get the appropriate items. So, I have not arranged a day yet for drop off or a location. Whatever the location, it will be in the valley. I'm thinking maybe next Wednesday for a drop off. Unless I hear anything different, the drop off location will be in the parking lot of West Valley High School, off Buckeye and Vista area, next Wednesday, 12/22/10, from 12 noon to 2 pm.

If you have something you would like to donate, and maybe you have a question or you need me to pick it up. PLEASE, let me know. I will see what I can do.

ANY help is appreciated! Thank you all and Merry Christmas!

You can always e-mail me at frugal mom 1 @ live . com.

Thanks again!

Cheryl

Monday Weigh-In Report

Well, this.........

can lead to SEVERE chocolate eating. Yep, Saturday, I was shampooing my carpet and getting things ready around here for the big Christmas gathering. Well, he was playing (running, jumping, hopping, you name it, he was doing it) around in the front room on wet carpet. I didn't see what happened as I had my back turned, but he fell and broke his little collar bone. I thought that maybe he just hurt himself pretty good and that he would get over it, but he kept complaining of pain for about the next 45 minutes to an hour. So, I had him take his shirt off, which was quite painful for him as he broke out in a cry and said how much it hurt him. I was comparing each side of the collar bone and noticed there was a lump on the right side. My husband and I talked and since I was in the middle of shampooing and the roads were bad, he was going to run Blakey to urgent care and see what the deal was.

Well, needless to say, he came back with this handy dandy little brace and the diagnosis of a broken collar bone. Okay, I know he is the one in pain and worse things could happen, but I CAN'T HANDLE THIS!!! I'm trying to be strong for his sake and the rest of the family, but I'M FREAKIN' OUT HERE! I know there is absolutely NOTHING I can do about this, but I am STILL worried (I'm sure many of you moms out there can relate). So, I don't normally turn to food when I'm stressed (I usually turn to food for FUN), but I got into the candy cane kisses. Ohhhh, they were sooooo good. Needless to say, they didn't take any of my worry away. Actually, it made me worry (after the eating event) about my weigh-in on Sunday. So, I went from one worry to another. Crazy!

So, now we go into see his doc this week. I'm not sure what they can do about this, I'm thinking nothing really, but I'm not a doctor so I don't know........

Anyway, the scale was nice to me AGAIN! I'm tellin' you, I'm just waitin' for the day that it breaks my heart again. Well, I lost 1 pound!!! Yay! I know it is less than the weeks prior, but I'll take it! ANY loss is a good loss in my book. They ALL add up. That's almost 12 pounds in three weeks!

If you remember, I was quite worried about last week because lately that seems to be when I "fall off of the wagon," but even with the slight derailment I still succeeded and I didn't derail too much. I still had my weeklies, but I have not used them on this new plan. So, I WAS within my point limits, but probably not a good decision the day before weigh-in.

So, as of today, I'm still on track and I think we have a pretty good menu planned out for Christmas that shouldn't derail me too much. I'm saving ALL of my weeklies for Saturday just in case. I know, I know, again the day before weigh-in, but they say that is what they are there for. So, we'll see........

Christmas Family Fun

Do you like going and looking at Christmast lights as much as I do? I, personally, LOVE this, and it seems the older I get the more I enjoy it. I love taking my kiddos to look at Christmas lights. We turn the radio on to Christmas music and carol away as we drive and look for Christmas lights. We JUST did a small drive the other night and wound up finding a pooch and returning him to his rightful owner. That was kind of a neat lesson to teach our kiddos, as they are new "pound puppy" owners.

Anyway, if you are in the mood to check out Christmas lights in and around Spokane. Just go on over here via The Spokesman Review and get addresses (these addresses are submitted by Spokesman-Review readers) and you can even map it out, if you would like. They have it broken down to the different areas in Spokane (South Hill, Valley, North Spokane, etc). One other cool thing about this page is that they give a short description of what is displayed at each particular address.

    Albertsons Trip Last Night

Yep, I had a TON of coupons for the Pillsbury brownies so I wanted to venture out to Albies last night. My hubby was night enough to take me to Liberty Lake so, I could get my shopping on. I did six different transactions and walked away with this and then some.......

Plus, not pictured are six Hefty Zoo Pal plates and 68 brownies (I ordered these last night, the plates and the brownies). Yes, I know that is a lot of brownies, but I had the coupons and so therefore they (the brownies) are going to be donated. So, I saved $228.68! Total out of pocket was $3.63! Wowza! That was good. I am not going to break each one of my transactions down, as I have to get my butt back to work, but I REALLY wanted to share with you how well I did last night. I am sooo excited about being able to donate some brownies and oil, and other items too. I did use (3) $5 Rewards that I had and I got back ANOTHER $5 reward.

So, here is what I got for $3.63!

    68 brownies
    8 Pillsbury Easy Frosting
    4 Pam
    3 Wesson oil
    3 Marie Callender's Family Meals
    3 Marie Callender's Steamers
3 Celestial Teas (these were on sale for $2.50, use with doubler makes them $0.50 each!)
1 Snack pack (had husband and Blakey with me)
    2 Hefty Paper plates
    6 Hefty Zoo Pals plates

Do you ever do something stupid like let a Catalina expire? Well, I did and I'm just kicking myself. I totally forgot about it until I saw it last night when I was going through my stuff. I can't believe it! It was a $5 Cat too! Oh well, I guess that is why I need to try to be a little more organized. You win some and you lose some and apparently I lost some. :)

By the way, when I was out at Liberty Lake last night they DID have plenty of brownies (just not enough for me to feel comfortable taking 68 for myself, so that is why I ordered them). So, if your on the hunt for some brownies, they had some. They, however, were out of the Zoo Pals plates.

Okay, I hope you all have a GREAT day and remember if you want to get in on the Albertsons's sale, today is the last day.

    Monday Weigh-In Report

Well.......once again,........I am happy to report that the scale was VERY nice to me yesterday. I lost 2.8 POUNDS!!!! That is a total of 10 POUNDS IN TWO WEEKS!!!! Okay, so I am LOVIN' this new plan so far!! How can I not?! I feel that I have more freedom on this plan, simply because I don't have to count the points of ANY of my fruit and MOST of my veggies. So, in the end, for me, I have more points to play with in a day. I am TRYING very hard to stay away from the bad carbs (higher point foods) and trying really hard to stick with the "good" foods of proteins, fruits and veggies, and whole grains. When I am "wanting" something sweet I grab a WW Red Velvet bar and that satisfies my sweet tooth and boy, if you have seen those bars they are not very big, but let me tell you I can make one of those babies last. :) Then, I am good to go.

I have had a hard time getting all of my activity in, but I'm trying. Even if I don't feel like "running," I will just walk on the treadmill. I figure walking is better than NO activity at all. Right?

I have been making chicken soup on Sunday, so I can have something easy for lunch through the week, but I didn't make any yesterday, so I better get to figuring something out here pretty soon. Anyway, I just boil my chicken for "a while," thenk I add a whole bunch of baby carrots, some celery, and whatever veggies I have. Then, this might sound a little gross, but I add a little milk so it "looks" a little creamy. I know, it's mental, but it works for me. Then, there you have it. That is it. I, of course, add garlic salt (my fave) and whatever spices I feel like that day.

Okay, so I am "a little" worried about this week, because lately when I do good, I do good for the first two weeks and then "fall off the wagon" on the third week. I am going to try really hard this week. I am hoping that since I am aware of this that things will be okay. I mean I've lost 10 pounds so far, why would I want to mess that up, right? I EVEN feel better, both physically and mentally. Boy, it sure really does make a difference with what we put in our bodies.

Anyway, here's to all of us having a good week this week.........

    FREE Phone Call from Santa!!

I love these things. I have been lucky enough to have these done EVERY year for my kiddos and they just get so tickled. Plus, I love watching how excited they get. Anyway, right now you can send a free personalized call to your child from Santa Claus, thanks to Google Voice! If you do this, once you submit it, the phone will ring instantly, so make sure your kids are around. Just a little FYI, this does not respond to your little one talking. It is just a recorded message.

Anyway, just go on over here to get started. :)

    RiteAid Trip Today

Well, I did okay. I messed up, but somehow I still came out ahead. So, I left putting out a little more out of pocket than I like to do and a bit confused and happy. So, here is what I got today between two separate transactions......

My kiddos wanted to be in the picture too. As you can probably tell, they were sampling some of the dark chocolate Hershey Kisses. Blakey says he likes my kisses. ;)

Okay, here is what I got in transaction #1......

Dark Chocolate Hershey Kisses X3 $2.50 each (I messed up. I thought these were on sale for $2 and part of the +Up Rewards, but they are NOT)
    -$0.75/2 printable X1
    -$1/2 VV X1
    - B2G1 free from last week's insert
=$3.25, making them $1.08 (Not great, but okay I guess)

    Hershey Holiday Kisses X3 $2 each X3
    -$0.75/2 printable X1
    -$1/2 VV X1
-B2G1 free from last week's insert
=$2.25, making them $0.75! (much much better, PLUS I got back one $1 +Up Reward)

John Frieda Travel Size $1.49 each X3
(I am going to submit for the $5 SCR on this, making a little bit of moolah)
    = $4.47

Pam Cooking Spray $3 each X4
-$1/1 from Safeway Coupon Book X4
=$8, making them $2 (not good at all, but it worked out in the end)

    Airborne $4.99
-$2/1 Rite Aid Coupon (Thanks Coupon Posse')
    -$1.50/1 printable
    =$1.50 (Plus, I got back a $1 +UP Reward)

    -$5/25
    -$12 in +UP Rewards

TOOP was $0.22! Plus, I got back $3 in +UP Rewards for the Pam, $1 +UP Reward for the kisses, and $1 +UP Reward for the Airborne. Then, I will submit for the $5 SCR for the John Frieda hair care. This was a pretty good money maker, but I later figured I could have used another $0.75/2 for the other two Hershey Kisses. Oh well, $0.22 is darn good in my book.

    Okay, now onto transaction #2.......

    Hershey Kisses X6 $2 each
    -$1/2 VV X2
-B2G1 Free from recent insert X2
    =$6, making them $1 each

Garnier deal of buy $30 get a $10 +UP Reward

    Garnier Facial Cleanser $4.49 X2
    -$2/1 printable NLA X2
    -$1/1 VV X2
    = $2.98, making them $1.49 each

    Garnier Exfoliant $4.71 X1
    -$1/1 printable X1
    -$1/1 VV X1
    = $2.71

    Garnier Hair color $5.99 X2
    -$2/1 Printable NLA X2
    -$1/1 VV X2

Garnier Color Shield Shampoo $3 X2
-$1/1 printable or from recent insert X2
    -$1/1 VV X2
    =$2, making them $1 each

    -$5/25
    - $13 in +UP Rewards (I finally ran out of +Up Rewards) :(

My TOOP was more than what I like, but it was okay. I paid $2.67 before tax. After tax my TOOP was $4.56, which I put on a RiteAid gift card, so no money out of pocket, but still a little more than what I like to spend on my RiteAid purchases. Plus, I got back one $10+Up Reward for the Garnier, three $1 +Up Rewards, and to my confusion but satisfaction a $5 +Up Reward that says from Maybelline. I have not one clue as to how I got the Maybelline $5 +Up Reward, but I like it. It really was mine as it was in the middle of all of my rewards, but I'm not sure what triggered it. Any of you have a clue? So, I still made money on this purchase and was very happy, but yet a little confused.

    Okay, happy shopping!

Show Your Support for Diabetes Awareness

Join Quality Health and receive a FREE wristband for diabetes awareness. I know our lives have been touched with diabetes. Just go on over here and sign up with Quality Health and get your FREE wristband.

Actually, here's a little bit of my personal story. This is personal, but I want to share with you "my story."

In about the year 2001, I worked a job that required me to get up before the birds, a little earlier than now. I used to have to get up at 2:45 EVERY morning, Monday through Friday. It was crazy! I worked out of the home and then my husband worked in the evening most times, so I would come home and take care of my little guy at the time, who was barely 1. Anyway, the weekends were a time of rest for me. Well, it had come to the point that I was ALWAYS very very tired, which was not quite too uncommon for me as I did get up before the birds did on a daily basis, but I was little more tired than usual. It took EVERYTHING I had in me to get myself up and moving. All I wanted to do was sleep. I thought maybe it had to do with my work hours and my weight. Anyway, this lady at my work had been recently diagnosed with diabetes and I thought, well, why not? So, I took myself into the doc and they ran some tests and I DID find out that I tested positive for diabetes type 2. I was sooooo heartbroken. All I could do was cry. I cried for two days straight. I was devastated. Anyway, they sent me to a nutritionist, I had my diabetic classes, and they gave me my glucometer (you know, the thingy to poke yourself with and check your blood sugars). I was on a special diet and lost some weight (not much, but some). Anyway, after the honeymoon stage, I went back to my old self and went on about my life.

Okay, fast foward a few years, still going on about my ways. I had left that job and went back to school. Well, got myself a good job and we decided that we wanted to have ANOTHER baby. Yay, I was soooo excited. I LOVE KIDS! Before I started having kids I wanted FIVE KIDDOS! (Nobody told me it hurt that bad). :) Anyway, we got pregnant in the summer of 2005! We were soooooo excited! I went to the doctor and had it confirmed that I was pregnant. Yay! Now, it's for sure. They tell me I am going to have to see the endocrinologist (one of their specialities is diabetes). Okay, so I go to the endocrinologist. They check me out and tell me that I have be on insulin while pregnant. What?! Are you serious?! No way! I'm going to have to give myself shots! Whoah! Okay....... so I CAN do this! I am going to do this! I do this! So, they work with me, give me a guide on carb counts and whatnot. Now, I REALLY have to follow a special diet as I have to take care of baby too. Well.........apparently I started to get things under control a little too late as I had a misscarriage. :( They really think that it had to do with the diabetes. It was horrible! One of most painful things (emotionally) I have ever dealt with in my life!

Okay, fast forward a couple of months and we get pregnant AGAIN! Yay! This time, I am STILL on insulin as we are keeping things under control so we can "try" about going about it the right way this time with Faith. So, the whole time I was pregnant I was on insulin and had the insulin pump, so I constantly had insulin going in my body the whole time and then when I ate I would give grab my pump and program it to give me more insulin to account for what I was eating.

So, I deliver Faith and get to get rid of the pump. Yay! No more pump, but I still need to work on this. Anyway, year later we decide to have another baby and yep, I have to dig that insulin pump out AGAIN and have to be on insulin the whole time, while pregnant again.:( I deliver Blakey and get to get rid of that nasty pump again.

Now, I head myself to Weight Watchers and lose probably about 80 pounds or so, and then I go to the doc. She tells me that I DON'T need to check my sugars anymore and to just keep doing what I am doing. I don't even need medication! Well, I go back after losing 130 pounds and she declares me DIABETES-FREE. She doesn't even consider me diabetic anymore! So, yes, diabetes has touch my life in a REAL personal way. Actually, it's all around me. It runs in both of our families and my husband has it too!

So, let's be aware and hopefully find a cure for this some day.

Sorry about the long post, but I just wanted to share.

    Thanks!

Wow, check this deal out. This would be GREAT for something to do over Christmas break. Look at what Spokane's Groupon deal of the day is. Here is some info I got from their website.

$18 for Six Open Jump Admissions at Jump-N-Party ($36 Value)

Physicists have determined that the best way to subdue wall-bouncing photons is to let them loose until they need a nap. Apply the latest scientific findings to your kid’s playtime with today’s Groupon: for $18, you get six one-hour Open Jump admissions at Jump-N-Party (a $36 value). Hosting kids’ exercise and entertainment within massive multicolor plastic cathedrals, Jump-N-Party’s facilities accommodate children up to age 12. High jumpers challenge friends to a race down an 18-foot slide, craft a cocoon in an obstacle course, or combine their strengths for the mythical triple bounce. Spread your Groupon over six months with hourly family-night visits or spend six straight hours one wintry morning leaping, stumbling, and making merriment across an inflatable indoor labyrinth. Open Jump occurs the first Monday evening of the month from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
