Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day, which is a federal holiday in THE United States of Amercia, observes on the last Monday of May EVERY year. It was formerly known as Decoration Day. "They" say that it was first recorded to have been observed by Freedman (freed enslaved southern blacks) in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1865, at the Washington Race Course, to remember the fallen Union Soldiers of the Civil War.

Well, today it is now known as Memorial Day, a day to commemorate ALL US service members who died, while in the military service.

Memorial Day often marks the start of THE summer season and then Labor Day marks the end of summer season.

On this day, I "celebrate" all men and women who have provide THE United States of America with their service, whether they be alive or not, as they have fought for me and my family. They have weathered conditions that I KNOW I couldn't have. They have made GREAT sacrifices for me and my family. As I sit here and type this post in my nice, warm home, drinking my cup of coffee, and waiting to get in the shower, so I can go about my day, having got a full night's sleep, with my children and husband right next to me, there are men and women fighting for our country whether it be here, amongst helping tornado victims, Afghanistan, or even Iraq, who are making great sacrifices and are helping to make it possible so I can keep living this way.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN PAST AND PRESENT!!!! THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU FAMILIES THAT HAVE SHARED YOUR MEN AND WOMEN WITH OUR COUNTRY........THANK YOU!!!!

FREE Summer Movies at the Garland

I know, I know, I said I wouldn't be able to post anything, but my husband e-mailed me this so I could share this with you all.

FREE Bowling AGAIN This Summer for The Kiddos!

Wow! I remember that they offered this last year too! FREE BOWLING FOR THE KIDDOS DURING SUMMER BREAK!!! What a GREAT fun and "frugal" activity. Here's the scoop....

As featured on NBC Nightly NewsSelect bowling centers and schools around the country are participating in the first ever Kids Bowl Free program. This program is designed by bowling centers to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure, and fun way for kids to spend time this summer.
Children whose age does not exceed a limit by a participating bowling center are eligible to register for 2 free games a day, all summer long, courtesy of the participating bowling centers along with the schools and organizations.

You can go on over here and see if there is a bowling center participating in your area as they have opened up registration for 2011. Yay!

Here's what you will need to do...

1) Visit here to find a participating bowling center in your area
2)  Click on your state.
3)  Click on your city.
3)  Find a location that is best for you and your family and click on IT.
4)  Create a user name and password and then complete the registration process.

It really is that easy.

Then, when it is time, here's what will happen....

Once the program has begun, we will send you an email every Sunday morning that contains a link to your coupons and family passes for that week. It is not required that you view this email to print your coupons as your coupons are always in your account once the program has begun.

Simply login to your account at anytime once the program has started to print your coupons and family passes.

For all you Spokane readers.....It looks like Lilac Lanes and North Bowl are participating this year!

Barnes&Noble Summer Reading Program

**Reminder**
Wow, it looks like Barnes&Noble is going to be offering up their Summer Reading Passport again this year. They did this last year too! This is a GREAT way for the kiddos to keep up on their reading through the summer.

Anyway, here is what you will need to do.....

Just go on over here to download a Barnes&Noble Summer Reading Passport.

Here is how it will work for you.....
•Kids read any eight (8) books of their choosing.
•Kids use the Reading Journal to document each book read. A parent/guardian signs the Journal when it's complete.
•Kids bring their completed Journal to any Barnes&Noble store between May 24 and September 6, 2011.
•Barnes & Noble will give them a coupon for a FREE BOOK, to be chosen from a list of great paperback titles.
